Kinusaiga

In this class, you’ll explore the delicate Japanese art of fabric collage, where small pieces of cloth are tucked into grooves to create intricate, painterly designs without a single stitch. Perfect for beginners and experienced makers alike, Kinusaiga is a mindful, tactile process that transforms fabric scraps into vibrant works of art.

Join us and discover how fabric can become your palette for storytelling and expression!

What You’ll Learn:
– **Introduction to Kinusaiga**: Learn about the origins of kinusaiga, its roots in traditional Japanese quilting, and how it evolved into a unique art form.
 – **Hands-On Technique**: Practice the method of preparing your baseboard, cutting and folding fabrics, and tucking them into patterns to create seamless, mosaic-like images.
 – **Design & Creativity**: Experiment with color, pattern, and texture as you bring your own designs to life. You’ll see how layering and arranging fabrics can create depth and movement, much like painting with textiles.

The process is slow, intentional, and deeply calming. As you work, fabric transforms in your hands, turning scraps into a colourful composition. With patience and creativity, you’ll walk away with a beautiful unique painting made of fabric.
